PB4L – Positive Behaviour for Learning

The Positive Behaviour for Learning School-Wide framework, otherwise known as PB4L School-Wide, is helping New Zealand schools build a culture where positive behaviour and learning is a way of life. The framework has been tailored to align with our own environment and cultural needs.

It’s not about changing the students; it’s about changing the environment, systems and practices you have in place to support them to make positive behaviour choices.

PB4L School-Wide is based on the Positive Behavioural Interventions and Supports (PBIS) framework developed at the University of Oregon in the 1990s. Riverton Primary School is in the second year of an ongoing journey to engrain the PB4L framework in our students, classrooms and wider school community.

Engagement

Whānau involved in school environments.

We do the right thing at the right time in the right place.

Riverton School recognises the cultural diversity of New Zealand/Aotearoa and the unique position of Maori culture in this area and in our country.

‘Our charter reflects our values with an emphasis on our wider school community, the aroha we show for one another and our environment, how we show resilience when we are faced with challenges, and engagement through all learning opportunities.’

Our values link with a school wide system that rewards students who show C.A.R.E at school. When students have earned a specific amount of C.A.R.E tokens they can receive a bronze, silver or gold award for their efforts. This can be viewed on our medal recipient wall as you enter our school office.

Our values are also reflected in our C.A.R.E awards that are presented every fortnight at assembly by classroom teachers for students who show aroha, resilience, engagement or involvement in the community.
